Grant Guidelines

General Guidelines

Chariho Community Inovative Project (CCIP) grants are funded by an endowment that is supported by The Community 2000 Education Foundation, The Chariho Rotary Club, The Rhode Island Foundation, and individuals and friends of the Chariho School System.  The purpose of the grants is to promote extracurricular learning opportunities within the Chariho School District.  CCIP grants work as follows:

  • Applications for CCIP grants will be requested in March and September of each year.
  • Projects may be created by individuals or by any combination of students, teachers, support personnel, parents, administrators and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Applications may come from any grade in any school in the Chariho Regional School District.
  • Awards to individuals will range from $50 to $500.  Projects with multiple participants may receive funds in the range of $100 to $1000.  The CCIP may change the award amounts for any grant period.

CCIP funds can be used for a broad range of projects.  One goal of every project should be to provide a learning experience or a unique or special service that is beyond that provided by the prescribed or current curricula of the school system.

  • Preference will be given to projects that employ multiple and diverse participants and to individuals whose project improves the education of a group.
  • Projects that have a lasting effect on the learning opportunities of a school’s students are preferred
  • Volunteerism and matching funds in the form of in-kind services or cash are encouraged.
  • CCIP funds can be used for materials, equipment, postage, travel and other expenses directly related to completing the project. They may not be used for salaries, stipends, political activities or capital equipment such as furniture and fixtures or computer systems.
  • When CCIP funds are used to buy devices such as digital cameras, pedometers, etc. these devices should be placed in the school’s Media Center at the conclusion of the project. The devices will then be available for other projects in future years.

The recommendations of the CCEP Grant Review Committee are subject to the approval of the Rhode Island Foundation.

All applicants will be informed of the Grant Review Committee’s selections within two months of the application deadline date.  Funds will be available before the beginning of the next term.

Within the month after conclusion of your project, you must submit a brief report that indicates your success at meeting your projects objectives.
